"Pull the string, and it will follow wherever you wish. Push it, and it will go nowhere at all." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

What is the meaning of life?

Let me first say that I can think of no good scientific reason for a humans existence. Its perfectly understandable to say the flower entices the bee and the bee polinates the flower and because of this life goes on. But wait, why do we need either the bee or the flower? What is the purpose of either being here in the first place? Lets say for the sake of answering our question that there is some reason we exist.

Lets also quickly look at why it is a flower; which is one entity, would need another entity; the bee to exist. Two completely different entities and yet without eachother they cannot survive. This works with all things down to the very cells of cells and atoms of atoms. Without one there is not the other. Without positive there is no negative.

Now with that said I introduce to you what I can only call string theory. The theory that all things are connected which is best visualized by a single thread of string. The flower and the bee are of course on this thread. The flowers needs cause the thread to be pulled in a certain direction which pulls to it whatever can answer its needs. So comes the bee who had an equal need for the flower. They cooperate and go on.

Everything is equal. With birth there is death. The string is always equal. It does not expand, it does not contract and its existence will never end.

Because I am only one tiny, tiny piece of this string does not mean I have no purpose. Being that all things are equal I must have a purpose. I am the opposite or balance of something else in existence. I am the result of another entities 'need'. Now I exist and I will go through life placing my needs and answering other's needs until I am no longer needed in this form and in a sense I die. I believe this is how existence works. This is my purpose. I am the water drop that forms from the precipitation that falls to the ground and feeds the earth. Once I hit the ground I am absorbed into it and become many other things. I believe the people I meet either needed me or I needed them. I believe that everything has a purpose.

Once I had thought of this I started to watch for anything that would prove me wrong. I would wonder about religion and God and other things and I thought : prayer. Its a humans way of 'asking' or 'pulling' the string for our needs. In a Christian sense the string itself is God. I am not religious. I've never read the bible and I do not pray in the way a Christian would. Not that I have any problem with any other persons religion. Its their way of looking at existence.

I was at work the other day and I overheard a co-worker mention that her sister believed in something along these lines. She said it was ironic in a way that everyone's greatest needs were answered in some way or another. Everyone's basic needs will always be met. I could only smile to myself.
